Alas, mushroom! Not only it is one of my favourite food, I love to draw them as well!
What is it about mushroom that I love? Let me think …
- the cute umbrella shape
- the wide variety of colors (from earth tone to purplish blue!)
- its long standing association to magic, forest, woods in folklore and fairy tales
- easy to draw (I mean you don’t have to possess super drawing skill to draw a beautiful mushroom.)
Aside from the sketch above, here is a mushroom painting which I did last year. It's called "We're All In This Together", ink on paper.
And some mushrooms which I collected along the way.
The white ceramic mushroom has significant meaning to me as it was a gift from fellow blogger Cameron at Paint Myself Pretty. (See the related blog post here.) It has been sitting on my work table since the day it arrived. And this little beauty always reminds me of the friendship I got from blogging.

These are fantastic! I love the we're all in this together one - such delicate colours. Your sketches always amaze me how you get them to look like they are jumping off the page. I also love mushrooms - especially mushroom burgers which are a great veggie alternative!! And there is something sort of magical (and I don't meant actual magic mushrooms!) about them - perhaps the connotation to fairies and pixies and all things imaginary and wondrous!
Mushrooms are terrific to paint but alas I don't care to eat them. Love your work they are all really wonderfully done. I even recognized some of the types in your Were All In This Together piece.

Loving these mushrooms! Mushroom omelettes are my absolute favorite "just for me" breakfast (my daughter and Hubby do not like them at all!)....I could eat them every day!
So what are you writing in the background of these sketches? This sounded a bit like a story to me? And I remember that pointilism piece from last year...I remember you were wondering what to do with the grass...looks like you figured it out....I think it's great!

I love mushrooms, too. They come in so many different shapes. I think they have a whimsical quality when they pop up in little clusters in my yard and potted plants. They made a great journal page!
Love your 'shrooms! We don't see them much here in the desert, except under unusual circumstances. Would love to live where you can collect all the yummy kinds. I have to be happy with ones I can buy at the store; not much selection. Thanks for stopping by my place & Happy PPF!
