We're All In This Together

"We're All In This Together", ink and paper, 21cm (H) x 30cm (W)

This one was finished about a week ago. Have been waiting for fine weather to take photo. (Not that we had much last week ... a freaking hail and storm caused a minor damage of the back porch of my house ... hence pls forgive the less of brightness of the photo)

After all the bright color starfishes, I decided to go for a new color palette. A kind of musty tone which is more my kind of color. I'm quite pleased with my pen and brush work of the mushrooms.

This was my first attempt to use washes and a bit of freehand drawing to create foreground. And honestly, I had the slightest idea of what I was doing. It was one thing to read about the technique from books and another to do it. So I'd like to know what you all think about it. Have I been able to create the "impression" of a "passable" grassland or it just looked smudges of green? ;)

Also, I'll be very interested to know if the the title and visual work together. I hope my usual whimsical / quirky take on things still there in this drawing.

Though I'm still struggling (i.e. learning) to draw, I'm enjoying it greatly. And I think I manage to improve my overall skill drawings after drawings.

Til then, have a good day my fellow bloggers and creatives.

I think this is very charming and I like your palette very much. Also, I think your grass is impressionistic and works just fine. nancy

Wow! Your mushrooms are amazing. Almost ethereal. Your grassland is fine, but I'm in love with the mushrooms and overall color palette. Yum!

So sweet and lovely! I totally got the title as soon as I looked at it. Mushrooms are so interesting, such neat shapes. Thanks for liking my story on my blog, I wasn't sure if I should share it or not, and now I'm glad I did.

These mushrooms are great. I can picture a little pixie happy as a clam under one of them, resting neath the cap on a sea of green!

There's definitely something magical about this and I think there should be a fairy or two hiding in there somewhere - you know what they're like, very camera shy! You have such a wonderful unique style.

i like this one. You managed to give the mushrooms a sense of movement rather than just being still, stuck fungi!

I love this picture - my daughter would happily have it on her wall as a fairy ring. I think your choice of colours was brilliant and it evokes an early misty morning feel, Well done!!

Hello Hybrid
What a lovely lot of comments, hope you are smiling from ear to ear.

This painting reminds me of "Alice in Wonderland". That was my first thought when I saw it. And the title is perfect.

I read about that terrible hail storm that hit Melbourne and caused so much damage. Sorry to hear your back porch was damaged.

Hope you have a happy week.
Hugs

Yes, I love it! I really enjopy your drawings and think you're very talented. I think this looks very magical whilst also appearing botanically true.
Thanks for your encouraging comments on my blog. I stamp because I can't draw but I've seen artists combine their natural artistry with stamping to great effect.
