NaNo 2009 Conclusion

Although it's been less than two weeks since I finished NaNo, it felt like a long time to me! (Cliche: how time flies?)

For those who've been reading my blog, you might know that I had won NaNo 2009. (YEAH!) So what have I learn and what am I going to do with the 50k+ words?

Thing I learn from writing NaNo:

- I can do it.
- I wrote loads of crap, but there were "gems" among them.

What's happening to the 50k+ words?

- I'm not doing anything with them for now. (Maybe later ...)

The fact was during the writing of NaNo, something "broke through" me. (Not physically, like in the movie "Alien", but metaphorically).

I'm taking a sabbatical from writing and beginning exploration of new creative outlets. I'm also working on a few "new creative projects".

I'll write about them once I had it all sorted out!

Day 17 Word Count - 3069 (wrote for "insurance" purpose)

Total Word Count Up to Day 17 - 53157 / 50000

I'm calling it a day ... but promise will write about my thoughts on NaNo in future posts.

* To anitcipate any descrepancy caused by word count programme during NaNo verfication period (begins on 25/11), I'll write another 3000 words to ensure my winner status. But hey I made it!!!!!

I'm exhausted but I'm also very proud of myself to reach the 20000 words count in 9 days. :D

I'm going to reward myself a big bowl of vanilla ice cream and some delicious peaches!!!

Before I started NaNo, I set myself a daily target word count of 1900. But as usual, I like to push myself just a tiny bit. So I'm going to aim at 2000+ from now on. And if I follow through with this new target, I would be able to achieve 50000+ mark by 25/11, 5 days ahead of schedule (30/11)! Woo Hoo!

As mentioned before the story is about a founded diary. And since I never really plan for any one of my writings, strange things / characters / objects constantly pop up in my story.

So far I had:

- a talking buffalo fell into sleep in the main character's (a young woman) living room.

- the pet dog of the young woman herded a group of buffalo to the middle of the lawn and the entire group of animals (the buffaloes and the pet dog) was turned into a giant Popsicle.

What can I say? Weird but I'm enjoying it ... :D

It felt bloody damn good to reach 10000 in 5 days! :D

First off, I want to thank everyone who left loving comments on my last blog post. You all touched my heart and gave me heaps of encouragement to continue my creative journey.

This is going to be short post to keep track of my NaNo experience.

Day 1 Word Count - 1970 (exceed target)

As mentioned a while ago, I planned to use NaNo to finish "STOS". But things changed. I'm writing up a total new story of a "founded diary". That's all I could say at this stage. Right now I just concentrate on getting the daily word count to achieve the 50,000 words by end Nov. I'm not too fuss if the story idea is good or not. This is more about get it done and have it out of the way.

In terms of the creative changes I'm going through, I'll borrow a horoscope prediction to give you a bird's eyes view of it.

"The year ahead for Scorpio - Many of you abandon an old dream as a radical new one proves overwhelmingly compelling."

I'll keep posting about my NaNo progress as much as I can. It could be daily or weekly. For matters concerning other areas of my creative life, it might be some time before I know how to make sense of it. But one thing for sure, I'm trying hard to follow my heart! :)
