What's in My Sketchbook?

I’m happy to say that I managed to break away from the bones and feathers to work on some plant sketch.

Remember this photo I posted a while ago about my succulent plants ...

20110416 Pink Jelly Bean CU 1

Since the upload of the pix, I’ve been nagging myself to sketch them.  But as mentioned on last post, I kept working on the bones and feathers.   So for this week, I mustered great effort to direct my creative attention to the Pink Jelly Bean.  And to make sure I didn’t fall into habit, I further my effort in presentation (no frames!) and color palette (purple & red).

Though I’m not 100% satisfied with the outcome, I’m quite happy with the fact that I’m trying something different.

The sketch is also for Paint Party Friday (hosted by Eva and Kristin).  All are welcomed!  Do join in to share and support each other!

Cheers and have a fantastic weekend!

This is wonderful! I love how you've composed it with the plant taking up only one corner of the page and the little dot lines all over - beautiful - and great photography as always ;0)

What a perfect plant to paint with watercolors! The blending of green to red is perfectly rendered and the shadowy blue gray is an excellent backdrop. Beautiful.

Beautiful light touch with the colors. The image feels so light and gentle. The dots are brilliantly placed, giving depth to the flower and background. I like how you placed the flowers in the corner too. :)
