Lack of Sleep

Me, working through reference books for a drawing

Ever since my X'mas break, I got into a habit to sleep around 2.00 in the morning and woke up around 10. My body was so adapted to the holiday hours that even though it's been more than a week since I got back to work, I could only bring myself to sleep around 1:00 am. BUT I needed to get up at 6:30 am for work!

Lack of sleep = lack of energy = slow progress in art making. I can't seem to focus and everything takes twice the time to finish. As a beginner in drawing, I have to do a lots of drafting, color study, brushwork & penwork study before I could start working on the actual drawing. With such major sleep deprivation, it's a wonder that I managed to finish a drawing last night! But I'm not going to post it yet. Instead I'm to post this one.

This is Sarah's gift to me after I sent her my X'mas Giveaway artwork. What a lovely cute drawing and I adore it! Thank you Sarah. :D

That's it for now and excuse me if this post read a bit clumsy. I'm half awake .... zzzzz

Getting back to regular work pattern is always the hardest, isn't it?

Thanks for your encouragement in my new adventure -- I need all I can get at the moment!

Looking forward to seeing some new drawings, and promise we'll have a new theme up at the Monday Project soon.

I have also had trouble, after 6 long weeks of having the kids home and no school run, we have all fallen to later nights and sleep ins. It will take me a few weeks to get back into it, so I will be Zombie for a while!:)
You sound like your really into it, learning the techniques, its great when we are open to it!
Love the photo of you, super concentrating...Angie :)

I know where you are at Hybrid as I have a very bad sleeping (or non sleeping) habit too.
I spend too much time on the computer and it stimulates my brain so much it takes me ages to get to sleep.

So pleased you posted a photo of yourself.....you are just the way I imagined....a beautiful soul. :)
