Hybrid Tiles

I’m writing this with a very unusual realization. I’m trying to interpret it as a good creative sign.

I have always identified my creative passion as writing. But since I picked up Zentangles on August, I’ve been on a drawing spree. And looking at the various tangles posts, I noticed that I have veered from tangles drawing to doodles and illustrative type of drawing very quickly.

Something hit me hard over the weekend: I bought a small (A6) sketch book and began to develop and try out drawing ideas. This was crazy and totally unexpected!

The result of this madness was these 2 new drawings and a sleepless night to ponder on my creative life and the emerging creative direction. (I’ll write about it in a new post).

(Drawings - withdrew by Hybrid J on 18/10/2009)

Enjoy and let me know what you think of them!

Hiya, there's no reason of course why you can't do both - or combine the two! You're just creative - it is bound to find outlets wherever it can, you'll be making sand sculptures before you know it!!

I think creativity comes in bunches. Actually, I really thing we're all born with bunches and little by little, we convince ourselves that this one, and that one are not ours. But when we rediscover that talent, still breathing under the surface of our skin, we can just add it to our arsenal of things that make us happy! Do both, enjoy them all. Why not? No need to restrict yourself to either one or the other. BTW, I love them, and the one of mother and child is great and funny and lovely! Keep going! xo B

See you are an artist and a writer. You can illustrate and write a wonderful book. Your doodles are wonderful.

I love these two illustrations, Hybrid. The top one is creative and tells a story; the bottom is beautiful, like a Japanese screen. Your tangles just get better and better. Keep at it!

What fun drawings. I think being a wordsmith and an artist can go hand in hand very well. One of my favorite artists that does this is Brad Foster. At festivals you can pick up his prints and on the back he will have a paragraph or two about the drawing that are really fun stories. And he does one panel comics that are usually published in fanzines.
Personally I would like to develope some word crafting skills to be able to do similar with my art.

Don't stress, just enjoy the path you are walking along and remember to breathe!

I love what you've produced. I agree with you - and everyone else - you can be creative in more than one way. In fact, many creative people are.
